LOS ANGELES -- The man who made "My Life" a hit is about to open up his life story for television audiences.
According to Variety, Showtime is turning Joel's life into a weekly show.
The first season will take place in the mid-70s.
Joel's hits in that decade included such classics as "Piano Man," "Just the Way You Are," "The Stranger," "Movin' Out," "My Life," "Big Shot" and "Honesty."
Showtime is promising to show both his ups and downs, including his alcohol problems, car accidents and marriages. Joel is cooperating with the show.
There is no word on when it will be ready.
The Grammy-winning Joel won a Tony for his work on the Broadway hit "Movin' Out," which used his music to chronicle three decades in the lives of a group of close friends.
